Dagala Hidden Lakes Trek in Bhutan

10 Days

Overview

Dagala Hidden Lakes Trek in Bhutan is a 5-day high-altitude journey in Thimphu, leading to a multitude of stunning alpine lakes with spectacular views. The trek is relatively moderate and most walking days are brief, though a few lengthy steep ascents are involved. It commences from Genekha and concludes at Chamgang village, with the maximum elevation reaching 4500 Meters. This is equally a botanical expedition and spring is arguably the finest season of the year to undertake it, as at the spring peak at the end of March, the entire valley awakens with blazing red, pink, and white rhododendron blooms, while from the start of June to the end of August various kinds of flowers are in blossom, allowing you to relish the natural splendor of alpine summer. During the monsoon, different varieties of mushroom can be spotted including the Sangay (Mashtakhay) mushroom. The trail leads you through Yak herder’s camps, villages, monasteries, and innumerable lakes, and also crosses the largest grazing ground for the yaks in Bhutan.
